Fall Internship
The Office provides students with the opportunity to apply their education and classroom theory to actual work situations in an investigative and legal environment. The Program allows students an opportunity to learn and experience, under direct supervisory guidance, specific functions of the Office. Interns are provided the opportunity to acquire hands-on, relevant experience on how Office investigations are conducted as it relates to complaints alleging fraud, abuse and/or misconduct by any officer, employee, and appointee in, or those doing business with agencies, boards and commissions that are under the jurisdiction of the Office. Additionally, interns may have the opportunity to assist staff by conducting legal research, drafting memoranda on matters related to the functions and policies of the Office, and assisting in reviewing cases and writing reports. The intern is provided the opportunity to assist Office's management staff by conducting legal research, drafting memoranda on matters related to the functions and policies of the Office and reviewing cases and writing founded reports. This internship involves working with information of an extremely sensitive and confidential nature. At the direction of the Office management staff, responsible for drafting legal memoranda and correspondence assignments. Responsible for tracking, prioritizing, and completing assignments in a timely manner. Responsible for completing any requested edit or revision by management staff. Responsible for conducting legal research and providing a written analysis on the legal merits of research. Responsible for completing other miscellaneous projects as assigned or required. Perform other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above. Report to the management staff of the Office.

Qualification and Experience

The legal interns must be a current, second, or third year student (or its equivalent if a part-time student) enrolled in an accredited law school. Demonstrated legal writing abilities through legal briefs, legal writing courses and/or competitions, law review experience, and prior job experiences involving writing (e.g. judicial externship) is preferred. Must have knowledge and experience drafting legal memorandums and conducting legal research. Should have demonstrated knowledge of Westlaw and MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and other internet applications.
