Job Overview
A well-established and respected law firm is seeking an experienced International Estate Planning Associate or Senior Associate to join its Private Client practice. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning, providing services to high-net-worth individuals, families, and businesses with complex cross-border needs. This is a unique opportunity to work in a national practice while offering flexibility with hybrid work arrangements.

Duties

  • Provide advice on international estate planning for high-net-worth clients, including complex tax and legal issues across jurisdictions.
  • Develop and implement wealth management structures that address multi-jurisdictional tax and legal considerations.
  • Counsel clients on foreign trusts, pre-immigration and expatriation planning, and tax compliance for overseas accounts and foreign assets.
  • Guide clients on the legal aspects of purchasing . property by . persons and related tax planning.
  • Collaborate with a team of attorneys across multiple practice areas to offer comprehensive solutions for clients.
  • Draft, review, and revise estate planning documents, including trusts, wills, and tax-related filings.
  • Manage client relationships, providing tailored, professional legal advice.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in international estate planning and cross-border taxation.
  • In-depth knowledge of estate planning strategies for high-net-worth individuals, including tax-efficient planning across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Ability to navigate complex tax and legal issues and provide practical solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication, drafting, and advocacy skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while also being able to work independently.
  • Member in good standing of the bar in the jurisdiction where the position is located.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Active membership in the bar of the jurisdiction where the position is based (required).

  • Expertise in international estate planning, tax law, and cross-border tax issues.
  • Proficiency in drafting estate planning documents, including trusts and wills.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Excellent client relationship management.
