Deputy Section Chief - Litigation Bureau - Education Litigation Section Duties: Assisting the Section Chief in the management and supervision of the Sections extensive federal and state court litigation docket and will serve as lead attorney on, or otherwise closely oversee, the Sections cases; Supervising 9+ attorneys and 2 support staff members; Reviewing assignments of incoming litigation matters, including emergencies; Direction of or assistance in litigation of complex matters; Preparing and/or editing briefs and motion papers in a variety of matters; Appearances in court; Assisting in or conducting trials; Regular provision of advice, training, support and supervision to attorneys and support staff within the Section; and Evaluating proposed settlements.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: 5+ years of litigation experience in both federal and state courts, including trials and the handling of complex litigation matters; Enjoy working within and assisting a large group of lawyers and support staff; strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and Superior skills in legal analysis, legal writing and editing; proven leadership skills and competence in defining and assigning priorities is a prerequisite.
