Legal Assistant - Asbestos Claims Responsibilities: Assisting attorneys and staff with processing clients' settlement agreements, releases and claims. Gathering medical records and bills, wage loss information, insurance information, and all other relevant documents for clients' cases. Drafting legal documents, correspondence, and pleadings. Reviewing and processing mail, faxes, and emails. Communicating with clients, medical providers, and insurance companies. Order, track and maintain client records. Conduct potential client intake calls. Maintain electronic and hard-copy information databases and file systems; open/close files. Provide back-up to other Legal Assistants. Use a variety of Microsoft applications to draft and finalize correspondence, reports, and basic pleadings with minimal supervision; proofread documents for typographical, spelling and content errors.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: 2-3 years of experience processing settlement agreements and claims. Detail oriented, organized, and comfortable working under a deadline. Must have strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently, with self-motivation, initiative and follow up. Ability to prioritize directions from supervising attorneys/paralegals. Aptitude for problem solving technology and software related questions. Represent the firm in a professional and ethical manner at all times. An interest in helping injured people seek justice. Experience with ProLaw business management software preferred.
