Senior Accounting Strategist The candidate will be responsible for, directly and through subordinates, managing operational accounting activities/transactions for UHNW clients. Will be providing operational accounting support for UHNW clients, reviewing customer financials/transactions, reviewing taxes; directing completion of complex operational accounting tasks pertaining to statements, systems and records. Providing financial administration services to ultra high net worth clients, defined as clients or prospects with $50MM or more in relationship balances. May serve as the project lead on moderate to complex relationships, including project oversight, plan preparation, review and delivery. Prepares analysis and work product on moderate to complex engagements. Focuses on financial statement analysis, cash flow analysis, insurance analysis, education funding analysis, executive compensation issues and stock option analysis, asset allocation analysis, income tax planning, charitable planning, business succession, asset protection. Partners with relationship manager/team during the consultative process with the client and also assists with overall client discovery. Documents, follows-up on status of, and supports the closing of opportunities identified from the financial statement process. May provide support as a subject-matter expert for a specific specialty or type of service. Helps to develop new clients jointly with internal partners as well as individually with external sources. Works closely with internal product teams to understand the changes to WM financial services products. Monitors and tracks client activities, financial administration fees and client revenues related to financial administration work to ensure sales opportunities are maximized. May review work of and provide ongoing training, coaching and mentoring financial administration team of accountants. Required to review documents such as operating agreements, wills, trusts, corporate governing documents, and others. May be requested to work on research projects, presentations, writing assignments, or other projects as they arise, which support a client’s plan or a specific business initiative.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 5+ years of experience in one or a combination of the following: tax planning, financial planning, or wealth planning. Public accounting experience is desired. CPA, JD degree, CFP, LLM, MS Taxation is dual preferred. Previous management experience supervising a team is desired. Experience reviewing complex financials, trust and estate documents and tax returns is desired. Experience overseeing a wealth plan from engagement to implementation is desired. Prior experience with HNW/UHNW clients is desired. Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite to include QuickBooks is desired. Strong communication and interpersonal skill is desired.
