Senior Associate - Benefits Advisory and Compliance Service Drive superior, consistent project management for concurrent projects: Translate business needs into comprehensive project plans including objectives, timeline, deliverables, budget and quality standards; Serve as the day to day project lead, ensuring the progress of teams against established goals; Serve as primary, daily contact to clients on delivery of services; and Manage client expectations and raise appropriate issues to Senior Consultants and Client Relationship Managers. Develop a trusted advisor relationship with client contacts through efficient, quality execution of projects, effective communication, and value added consulting advice. Interface with colleagues from other practices and regions on assignments that reflect the client’s broader business issues. Review and analyze clients’ qualified and non-qualified benefit plans. Contribute to the resolution of clients’ legal and regulatory issues. Consult with clients on issues of plan qualification and fiduciary responsibility. Provide core compliance services including government filings, testing and operational reviews. Administer plan documentation efforts (design, drafting, amendments, restatements, SPD’s, SMM’s). Coordinate communications, data flow and related work streams with vendors. Assist in the tracking and interpretation of legal developments, both internally and with clients, on all aspects of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC), ERISA, and other relevant laws as they affect employee benefit plans. Partner with leading legal, actuarial and financial consultants across the US to create and apply our intellectual capital to consulting projects. Follow firm and line of business processes, protocols and quality standards in the development and deployment of solutions. Meet revenue and billable hour goals as described by manager. Support the generation of new business as part of the broader team. Participate in prospecting opportunities with new clients as part of a broader team. Directly contribute to clients’ success through applying your technical expertise. Build relationships internally and collaborate effectively on cross-functional teams. Demonstrate natural ease and effectiveness when dealing with clients/colleagues at all levels. Serve as mentor to project team associates.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: Undergraduate degree required; JD and/or post graduate is a plus. 7+ years of experience in employee benefits, retirement, or consulting with a focus on compliance, plan administration, or recordkeeping. Prior experience in professional services firm or legal environment preferred. Experience and success delivering compliance solutions to corporate and not-for-profit organizations (e.g. plan governance, government filings, plan documentation, testing, vendor management). While extensive 401(k) plan knowledge is necessary, experience with 403(b) and/or defined benefit plans is an added plus. Deep knowledge of IRC, ERISA and other relevant laws and regulations affecting employee benefit plans. Proven experience successfully managing multiple projects and producing quality deliverables on time and within budget. Comfortable interacting with and presenting to professionals at all levels within various organizations (internal and external clients, vendors, other consultants and counsel). Proven ability to recognize and diagnose issues and work in teams to influence clients’ decision making. The ability to see the "big picture," leveraging the resources of other groups to address the clients' business challenges.
