Director, General Legal The candidate will manage investigations of potential or suspected violations of law or company policy and, where required, prepare disclosures to U.S. Government agencies. Manage all trade compliance matters in the investigation management system, including opening new investigations and inquiries, working with key investigators, and oversee the completion of corrective actions by business units throughout the globe. Manage and oversee complex transaction reviews for our global business enterprise that touch on multi-jurisdictional sanctions programs and export control regimes. Manage and update sanctions, export & licensing compliance policies; draft processes and work step instructions in support of compliance policies. Provide general advice and counseling on international trade compliance laws, regulations, policies, procedures and standard work. Support the development of policies, procedures, standard work and desk instructions for various trade compliance areas (including licensing and authorizations, investigations, facility management, etc.), and support implementation of such requirements. Support the development and communication of solid program infrastructure, leadership, culture, awareness and training. Prepare factual summaries, presentations and training materials regarding trade compliance issues and obligations, and lead presentations and training sessions to businesses and management as needed. Participate in audits, internal reviews and investigations to identify compliance enhancement opportunities and develop corrective actions and risk mitigation strategies to address compliance gaps. Project leadership in compliance enhancement initiatives by collaborating with other departments (Engineering, Human Resources, Supply Chain, IT etc.) and leading cross-functional teams.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have BA/BS degree and J.D. with 4+ years experience. Preferably have experience with U.S. export & import regulations. General corporate or commercial experience providing guidance and practical solutions for “doing business†with or in other countries preferred. Compliance program, risk assessment, risk management and/or audit experience a plus. Should have Subject matter expertise in sanctions and licensing. Must have ability to build client relationships in the corporate business setting and foster a client-service oriented atmosphere. Should have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills, including a solid executive presence. Must have demonstrated ability to multi-task, manage multiple deadlines simultaneously, and provide guidance and practical solutions to cross-functional projects effectively and on time. Should have demonstrated ability to work with minimal daily supervision as a member of both business teams and the legal services organization, and to balance numerous priorities within compressed time frames. Must be an excellent advisor and business partner, able to see “the big picture†yet understand the necessity and importance of being meticulous and addressing details.
