Attorney The candidate will prosecute criminal cases for the Office and to provide competent legal advice and services. Negotiates the just resolution of assigned cases and complies with Victims' Rights. Maintains professional relationships with victims, witnesses, law enforcement agencies, and members of the community. Discusses and presents analysis of legal issues. Conducts trials and presents oral arguments as needed. Composes memoranda and pleadings regarding legal issues of concern as needed in assigned cases. Interviews witnesses regarding facts as needed in prosecution of the case(s). Researches and analyzes legal issues using both computerized legal research and hard copy tools. Covers court and other duties as assigned. Complies with all rules regulating professional responsibility, including specific rules addressing the prosecutorial function. Must be admitted to practice law and be in good standing with the State Bar of Arizona at time of application. Should have Juris Doctorate from an accredited ABA approved law school. Must have previous prosecution experience. Must have knowledge of, and ability to, apply laws, court decisions, and rules of evidence and procedure. Should have knowledge of presenting and arguing cases in court and to handle unanticipated problems effectively. Mustr have knowledge of principles, methods, materials, practices, and references utilized in legal research. Skills: Skilled in communicating effectively with victims, witnesses, judges, other agencies and members of the public one-on-one or in a group setting. Skilled in applying legal analysis, research, and writing techniques and tools in order to draft clear, concise, and organized legal correspondence, memoranda, documents, and pleadings. Skilled in interviewing witnesses to obtain facts regarding cases. Ability: Ability to develop and act on sound legal strategies. Ability to analyze, appraise, and organize facts, evidence, and precedents to ascertain the determining aspects of cases and present material in a clear and logical form. Ability to maintain professional relationships with victims, witnesses, law enforcement agencies, and members of the community. Ability to effectively and efficiently negotiate the just resolution of assigned cases in compliance with Victims' Rights. Ability to use technology in the office for daily duties and in court during litigation.
