A law firm in Raleigh, North Carolina, is seeking an Associate Attorney with a passion for family law to represent clients during challenging times. The ideal candidate will handle cases from inception through trial, with a focus on delivering excellent customer service and advocating for clients in family law matters.

 

Duties:

  • Represent clients in family law cases, including divorces, alimony, child support, child custody, and equitable distribution.
  • Handle cases from inception through trial, including drafting pleadings, discovery, and other legal documents.
  • Conduct informative initial consultations and provide guidance to clients.
  • Supervise and delegate work to paralegals and team members.
  • Participate in firm meetings and contribute to the growth and development of the firm.
  • Prepare for and attend court hearings, mediations, and depositions.
  • Communicate professionally with opposing counsel, court personnel, and others while advocating for clients.
  • Deliver excellent customer service and maintain a modern approach to family law practice.
  • Handle a high volume of cases with a strong attention to detail and organization.
  • Practice in Wake and Durham Counties and potentially travel to surrounding counties.
  • Keep written track of billable hours and maintain proficiency in timekeeping.
  • Utilize MS Office 365, including Outlook, Word, and Excel, and law office practice management software (Practice Panther).

 

Requirements:

  • Licensed to practice law in North Carolina.
  • Graduated from an accredited law school.
  • Experience with family law and an intent to remain in this area of practice.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of NC Family Law (Chapter 50), the NC Rules of Civil Procedure, and the NC Rules of Evidence.
  • Working knowledge of Local Rules for Family Court in Wake and Durham Counties.

 

Education:

Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
