Legal Assistant DUTIES: Schedule and subsequently confirm depositions, hearings, mediations and meetings, with accompanying notices to necessary parties, which include clients, judges, other legal secretaries and attorneys. Subpoena witnesses and records at the direction of the attorneys. Schedule independent medical exams (IME’s) and conferences with doctor offices and arrange for forwarding of medical records for review. Transcribe dictation tapes from attorneys and follow up on instructions included. Prepare motions and responses to Complaints at the direction of the attorneys. Monitor due dates for all discovery and court orders. Maintain accurate diaries of all due dates throughout the file process. Handle client inquiries regarding the case throughout the file process. Monitors the proper process for filing, and assists with filing as necessary. Handle incoming mail as necessary. Maintain pleasant relations with other employees, clients and outside vendors. Answer phones as necessary. Schedule and make all travel arrangements for their attorney.

Qualification and Experience

QUALIFICATIONS: Must have 2-5 years of related experience; Excellent grammar, typing skills and knowledge of MS Word©, WP and TimeMatters or other legal software preferred. must be comfortable working with deadlines, have strong organizational skills, and be able to work in a fast paced team environment.

"Very Poor Pay"

I'd like to see this firm become more competitive and drastically increase its starting pay. This way they will hold onto whoever they may hire and will be able to grow as a firm.

Pros : The office environment is very casual and everyone is very friendly. The hours are also great and offer a lot of flexibility.
Cons : The pay is dismal and is well below what most other firms would start their employees at. While I was working here a lot of people were quitting which made getting work done very difficult.
