Spring Internship The internship program offers interns an opportunity to gain valuable experience in a fast-paced and exciting public sector environment. Interns provide essential administrative support in all three of Congressman's offices, but other responsibilities vary among the offices. Interns provide legislative research, help respond to constituent mail, and give tours of the Capitol to visitors from the district. The interns will be asked to answer phones, research legislation for the Member and legislative staff, attend hearings and briefings and answer constituent letters on various issues before the House. As a result, interns learn about the legislative process and the many other functions of a congressional office. College students are considered. The hours are flexible to accommodate students' hectic course schedules, but generally run 9:00 am to 6:00 pm when Congress is in session, and 9:00 am to 5:00 pm when not in session.
Submit completed internship application form, current resume, cover letter, writing sample (200-300 words that has not been edited by anyone else), and names and contact information for 2 references.
