Real Estate / Title Attorney The candidate will review abstracts prepared by others for compliance, completeness and accuracy. Will prepare and review master template agreements for the acquisition of servitudes, easements, fee acquisitions. Assist in litigation support and curative title work. Analyze and interpret a variety of technical, financial and business documents, governmental regulations, legal documents, proposals, appraisals, and reports. Negotiate with property owners for the acquisition of real estate interests. Provide relocation assistance to landowners, business owners, and tenants. Draft documents, memos, letters, and other formal communications to clients. Coordinate with utility owners; secure letters of no objections, encroachment agreements, etc. Coordinate with surveyors for staking, surveys, legal descriptions, and right of way maps. Coordinate with appraisers for various form appraisal reports; prepare appraisal plans. File compliance; quality control. Coordinate with local, state and federal agencies. Develop project plans, schedules and budgets. Prioritize and organize work assignments. Manage the financial, contractual and delivery aspects of the projects. Provide direction to GCR right of way agents and administrative staff. Participate in marketing and business development initiatives. Establish client relations. Desire to grow in all disciplines within the right of way industry.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have 5+ years of experience in the real estate/title field with 3 years in a similar role. Proven experience managing complex right of way acquisition and relocation projects are needed. Barred Louisiana attorney in good standing is needed. Licensed notary public is needed. Thorough knowledge and application of the Uniform Relocation Act, the eminent domain process, right of way acquisitions and relocations, and all applicable state and federal laws and guidelines is essential. Experience working directly with engineers, surveyors, appraisers, attorneys, and agency staff is needed. Proficient in use of Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel and SharePoint is needed. Previous experience providing direction to fellow staff and leading project assignments is needed. Experience managing project budgets is needed.
