ProfilePatent Attorney Duties: Draft patent prosecution documents such as patent applications, and amendments and responses to U.S. Patent and Trademark Office Official Actions. Participate in interviews with patent examiners as circumstances allow. Draft and review various additional patent prosecution documents as may be required to move a patent application to issue. May also have the opportunity to perform patent searches and document results of the searches. May also perform legal research and brief legal issues for various subject matters ranging from intellectual property to business law and contracts as may be applicable to a specific matter. Prosecuting patent applications, drafting new patent applications, and performing patent searches.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: Registered Patent Attorneys or Agents (or persons qualified and expecting to sit for patent examination) in County office. Must be personable and professional in addition to being able to efficiently provide quality patent drafting and prosecution services, with no disciplinary history. Must be prepared to manage a large caseload – 1-5 years of relevant experience is preferred. Must have a technical/science degree that qualifies them to sit for the patent bar. Must have education and/or work experience in the computer science, electrical or mechanical fields.
