Senior Counsel, Employment Law and Benefits The candidate will provide practical and business-orientated legal advice and counseling on a range of employment law issues, leaves of absence and accommodations, restrictive covenants, internal investigations, compensation and benefits. Will investigate and effectively respond to federal, state and local administrative discrimination/wage and hour complaints. Actively manage employment law single plaintiff and complex class litigation, including responding to attorney demand letters and effectively negotiating resolution of claims. Actively monitor employment law changes to ensure policies and practices are compliant. Responsible for legal matters related to qualified and non-qualified retirement plans, health and welfare plans, incentive plans and other benefit programs for the firm and certain affiliates. Provide legal counsel for governing committees for retirement and welfare plans. Provide counsel on benefit issues for mergers and acquisitions. Draft and support negotiations for benefit plan/program vendor agreements. Provide legal guidance for ERISA compliance matters (claims and appeals, reporting and disclosure, etc.). Should have 5+ years of post-bar experience in a combination of law firm and corporate settings. Experience using time management skills such as prioritizing/organizing and tracking details and meeting deadlines of multiple projects with varying completion dates are needed. Experience establishing and maintaining relationships with individuals at all levels of the organization, in the business community and with vendors, as necessary is needed. Experience in Employment Law and Benefits areas are preferred.
