Staff Attorney, Housing Justice (Temporary) Responsibilities: Serve as class counsel in the implementation of consent decrees implementing the redevelopment of public and subsidized housing; Represent tenants and tenant associations in the preservation of their affordable housing; Investigate and provide legal research on complex civil litigation matters, including fair housing, housing preservation, re-entry, the rights of survivors of violence, and environmental justice; Attend community meetings and provide trainings and training support; Engage in housing-related administrative and policy advocacy;and Other responsibilities as assigned.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: JD Degree, licensed to practice law in Illinois; Excellent oral/written communication skills; Proficient in Internet research and Microsoft Word; Excellent organization and time-management skills; Dedicated, independent, and detail-oriented; Demonstrated ability to work across lines of differences, especially with racially and economically diverse communities; and Demonstrated commitment to the Center’s mission, vision and values.
