Product Manager, Automated Underwriting Responsibilities: Lead effort to define the organizational strategy, identify the tools and design the approach and roadmap for automating underwriting across the enterprise. Maintain in depth knowledge of underwriting principles and application in order to develop, train and articulate requirements for applying underwriting logic to automate underwriting. Maintain in depth knowledge of underwriting principles and application and understand the use and flow data through a real estate transaction while optimizing the data to automate production of search data schedules, commitments and policies. Identify all areas where electronic data should be leveraged to minimize re-keying efforts of all parties involved throughout a real estate transaction.. Analyze and optimize new and existing technology to ensure the collection and storage of accurate data that is complete and reliable that is in a consistent and predictable format on which AI and automation can be applied. In close collaboration with the workflow automation team, identify tools via which we can obtain and share valuable electronic data (e.g. title plants, collaboration/transaction management tools with lenders and settlement providers, etc.) and optimize the use of electronic data as it makes sense. Identify and execute on product enhancements and sales opportunities, support new product development and growth goals, build client and vendor relationships, and implement and manage business change initiatives. Monitor the ongoing use and resulting impacts of automation of products with quantitative and qualitative analysis. Employ program management processes, methodology and standards for project delivery while identifying process improvements and efficiencies.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience (7-10 years of title insurance underwriting, title examining and/or paralegal required) Ability to coordinate and manage across various business segments and technology disciplines while resolving complex issues Understands the basics of technology and the convergence of software and data in support of underwriting An innovative and strategic mindset, open to new ideas and challenges outside of what is known or comfortable Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills. Ability to communicate effectively (verbally and in writing) with internal staff and external stakeholders Strong critical thinking, analytical problem-solving and collaboration skills Proficiency with Microsoft Project, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Visio. Understanding and application of artificial intelligence and machine learning as well as automating business processes. Knowledge of specific data elements that are of importance to and consumed by all parties to a real estate transaction to be able to identify data that should be electronic and shared. Working knowledge of title insurance underwriting practices and principles to include multiple states or regions and of real estate closings from contract to search and title production to close and post-closing. Dissecting and documenting business processes related to underwriting and production of commitments and policies to identify decisions points and logic required to make decisions. Working knowledge of the nature of the work involved and/or direct experience as a paralegal, a searcher, a title insurance underwriter and a closing agent to be able to understand or represent the various user perspectives of our tools and technology.
