Job Title: Traditional Labor Of Counsel

Job Overview: A law firm is seeking an experienced Traditional Labor Of Counsel to join its team in San Francisco, CA. This role involves handling unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB), providing legal advice to employers, and representing management in various labor-related matters. The ideal candidate will have substantial experience in traditional labor law, excellent communication skills, and a strong understanding of both federal and California employment laws.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle unfair labor practice charges at the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB)
  • Conduct research and writing tasks related to labor law
  • Represent management in NLRB elections
  • Provide legal advice to employers regarding:
    • Union organizing
    • Corporate campaigns
    • Card check and neutrality agreements
  • Negotiate and provide legal advice regarding collective bargaining agreements
  • Handle grievance, arbitration, and unfair labor practice proceedings
  • Obtain mass picketing injunctions
  • Advise employers on:
    • Federal and California wage and hour issues
    • Leave management
    • Disability accommodation issues
    • Other workplace issues
  • Review handbooks, policies, and forms for compliance with federal and state law
  • Review compensation, commission, and bonus plans
  • Conduct management training on labor relations, federal and California workplace issues, harassment, discrimination, and retaliation
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as reasonably assigned

Requirements:

  • JD from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Minimum of 9 years of litigation or advisory work as an attorney
  • Traditional labor experience preferred
  • Experience in federal and California advice and counsel work preferred
  • Active CA Bar Admission
  • Understanding of current agency (state and federal) enforcement techniques preferred

  • Exceptional written and oral communication skills
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish preferred

Education and Certifications:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an ABA-accredited law school
  • Active membership in the California State Bar
