Job Overview:
A law firm in Phoenix, AZ, is looking to add a dynamic associate attorney to its Health Law Team. This is an excellent opportunity for an attorney with experience in data privacy and security, particularly in the healthcare sector. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in state and federal privacy laws, data protection, and security, with the ability to collaborate with both legal and non-legal professionals.

Duties:

• Advise clients on compliance with state and federal privacy laws.
• Assist with data protection, management, and security, including understanding data flows and creating data maps.
• Provide strategic counsel on incident response and data security breaches.
• Draft and negotiate commercial contracts, especially related to health law.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure seamless legal processes.
• Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory changes in data privacy and security.

Requirements:

• Approximately 5 years of relevant experience in health law, particularly with a focus on data privacy and security.
• Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to collaborate with diverse teams.
• Familiarity with the healthcare industry and its legal complexities is highly desirable.
• Experience in managing regulatory compliance and incident response procedures.

Education:

• Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

• Admission to practice law in the relevant jurisdiction (Arizona preferred).

Skills:

• Expertise in state and federal data privacy laws and regulations.
• Proficiency in data protection and security protocols.
• Strong drafting and negotiation skills, particularly in commercial contracts.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a collaborative team.
