Employment and Immigration Paralegal The candidate will be coordinating with outside counsel, federal agencies and state agencies for timely and correct filing of immigrant and non-immigrant visa petitions; managing the relationship with hiring managers, foreign national employees, outside legal counsel, and federal agencies. Will be managing and processing the timely and accurate filing of a high volume of U.S. immigration applications and/or petitions. Communicating policies to hiring managers and foreign nationals, and overseeing compliance with corporate immigration policy. Interacting directly with government agencies such as the Department of Homeland Security, Department of Labor, and/or the Department of State. Performing legal research. Maintaining Public Access Files. Utilizing interactive databases as well as MS Office Suite, including Outlook scheduling and e-mail systems, to closely monitor foreign national employees’ cases to ensure that they maintain lawful work status. Developing, monitoring and advising about immigration-related policy and practices. Maintaining databases; creating and processing of letters, pleadings and case files; docketing and proactively tracking deadlines; tracking and responding to discovery in employment litigation matters. Assisting with responses to agency investigations, including assembling documents for production in investigations, EEOC Charges, subpoena responses, and lawsuits. Tracking outside litigation matters. Performing other duties as assigned. Must have Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution of higher learning or paralegal certification from an ABA-accredited institution. Experience with: MS Office Suite, case management databases, and applicant tracking system(s), such as Taleo. Knowledge of other HRIS systems (SAP, Documentum) a plus. Should have experience with an immigration law firm, department, or corporate immigration function. Prior in-house experience preferred. Litigation experience is desired.
