Corporate Counsel, Digital Platform and eCommerce The candidate will provide legal support, acting as a point of contact on a wide a wide variety of issues related to go to market, ecommerce, customer service, user community and commercial transaction operations (including an understanding of payment service agreements). Proactively partner with business leaders in the Chief Digital Officer organization in order to build a trusted advisor relationship; engage with business colleagues at all levels; exercise excellent legal judgment and extraordinary communication skills to provide practical, clear, and concise counsel. Support eCommerce and digital customer experience initiatives, including readiness and release activities, as well as an ongoing business, by identifying and driving resolution of legal issues in the areas of consumer protection, intellectual property, digital engagement and commercial transactions, marketing, competition, data privacy and security, data analytics and use, and other legal and regulatory frameworks. Contribute to the development and implementation of customer-facing policy, processes, terms and guidelines. Work as part of a team of legal professional providing consistent and business-aware legal advice across business divisions and the company. Collaborate with legal colleagues supporting other functions on all relevant aspects of the business, including marketing, finance, sales, and product. Partner with the company’s privacy, data, security, and compliance groups to understand and provide input on practices and systems, ensuring legal and regulatory requirements are met.
Qualification and ExperienceThe candidate should have a JD degree from an ABA-accredited law school; member in good standing in at least one U.S. State Bar. Should have 4 years of in-house experience at a technology company with a global reach or related experience at a law firm. Expertise and experience in online commercial transactions, marketing, contracting, intellectual property, data privacy and data analytics, and compliance law matters. Superior business acumen, with proven ability to use business context to come up with creative, pragmatic solutions that achieve corporate objectives while mitigating legal risk. Demonstrated ability to work in a complex environment to provide consistent, practical, timely, and business-enabling legal advice. Experience providing legal support for businesses or programs with multiple stakeholders. Ability to work independently with little supervision, applying good judgment in identifying issues that need to be escalated. Intellectual curiosity, solid sense of humor, humility, and team-player working style.
