Job Overview

A law firm in Chicago, IL, is seeking a highly qualified Senior Advertising Marketing and Promotions Associate Attorney with substantial experience in advertising law, consumer protection law, and marketing transactions. This role demands a seasoned professional with a proven advertising and marketing law track record, including complex agreements and compliance issues.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Draft and negotiate advertising agency agreements, influencer contracts, celebrity endorsements, sponsorship deals, online media buying contracts, and other marketing and promotion agreements.
• Review and analyze advertising copy for compliance with false advertising laws, claim substantiation, intellectual property rights, and right of publicity issues.
• Provide counsel on contest and sweepstakes compliance, including prize promotions and regulatory requirements.
• Advise clients on price advertising, recurring subscriptions, and loyalty/rewards programs.
• Handle matters related to false advertising, unfair competition, and disputes with the National Advertising Division.
• Collaborate with internal teams and clients to ensure compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
• Maintain high attention to detail and demonstrate strong teamwork capabilities.
• Prepare and present legal arguments and documents, ensuring communication clarity and precision.

Requirements

• Minimum of 7 years of relevant experience in advertising law, consumer protection law, and marketing transactions.
• Substantive experience in drafting and negotiating various marketing and advertising agreements.
• Experience with false advertising, unfair competition, and National Advertising Division disputes is advantageous.
• Proven ability to work well in a team setting and maintain high attention to detail.

Education

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• Excellent academic credentials.

Certifications

• Admission to the Bar in Illinois.
