Job Overview:
A leading law firm is seeking a talented and experienced Real Estate (Finance) Associate to join its New York office. The ideal candidate will have 3-7 years of experience focusing on commercial real estate debt financing transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, loan participations, and restructuring matters. This role offers a unique opportunity to work on complex real estate finance transactions and develop professionally within a collaborative environment.

Location:

Duties:

  • Handle substantial commercial real estate debt financing transactions, including mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, and permanent and bridge loan originations.
  • Manage construction loans, loan participations, syndications (including loan sales), and other co-lender and intercreditor arrangements.
  • Advise clients on restructuring and workout strategies for real estate finance transactions.
  • Draft, negotiate, and review complex transaction documents related to real estate finance.
  • Collaborate with clients, internal teams, and external stakeholders to facilitate successful transactions.
  • Conduct legal research and provide advice on complex real estate finance issues.

Requirements:

  • 3-7 years of experience in real estate finance, with a focus on debt financing transactions and related matters.
  • Proven experience with mortgage and mezzanine financings, preferred equity investments, and loan participations.
  • Familiarity with syndications, loan sales, co-lender arrangements, and intercreditor agreements.
  • Strong knowledge of construction loans, workouts, and restructurings.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle complex transactions independently and effectively.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (.) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Admission to the state bar (New York preferred).

Skills:

  • Strong drafting and negotiation skills for real estate finance documents.
  • In-depth understanding of real estate finance structures and legal principles.
  • Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships.
  • Ability to work in a team-oriented environment while also handling individual responsibilities.
