ProfileSenior Paralegal, Dispute Resolution The candidate will provide support to Litigation, Dispute Resolution, and Regulatory Case Teams for disputed matters and investigations globally. Will manage multiple disputed matters from beginning to final resolution, which will call for considerable organizational skill and high levels of functional and technical integration. Follow company protocols and processes for gathering and organizing documents, preparation and implementation of Legal Holds, updating case status and tracking the handling of documents for assigned matters. Have proven project management capability including metrics, budgets, estimates, serving as an escalation point, and managing legal case team concerns. Provide matter budgeting and forecasting support especially with regard to discovery costs. Identify potential problems with schedules and budgets and provide resolutions for a successful outcome. Coordinate and conduct large-scale document (electronic and hard copy) discovery identification, preservation, collection, scanning, coding, review and production project. Perform Quality Control of electronically stored information including Quality Control of data before production to confirm document stamping and redactions are accurately captured. Communicate clearly concerning legal technology needs related to a particular case and able to communicate complex technical solutions to non-technical audiences. Serve as a liaison between the internal and external case teams and discovery vendors to facilitate a review of data for production.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor's degree and paralegal certification or equivalent combination of education and experience. Must have 4+ years of experience in the e-Discovery industry with a law firm e-Discovery department, as a paralegal, or with an e-Discovery vendor. Should preferably have 10+ years of relevant paralegal experience. Trial experience is desired. Experience with Relativity, Viewpoint, Concordance, Atlas and other widely used E-Discovery applications, is strongly preferred. Experience as a Paralegal in an in-house corporate setting or major law firm is desired. Experience in the oil and gas industry is an asset. Demonstrated aptitude of the litigation process, including all phases of the legal hold process and electronic and hard copy discovery is required. Should have proficient knowledge of Internet research tools (Lexis, Westlaw, CM/ECF, JIMS, etc.). Must have proven successful Project Management implementation and ability to handle multiple projects and willing to gain expertise and achieve certifications in both technical and legal project management fields. Should have functional proficiency of electronic discovery applications and able to work with the Discovery Team to ensure that legal teams are using appropriate, innovative and cost-effective technologies to manage the discovery process. Advanced proficiency with MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint and Outlook) is essential.
