Associate General Counsel
Duties: Oversee advertising compliance on platforms and in external marketing. Draft and negotiate contracts and other documents, including marketing, merchandising, and operations agreements. Train business units on advertising compliance and contract related issues. Support business teams with public relations announcements, TV scripts, and other advertising review, including use of logos. Provide advice on marketing promotions, sweepstakes and contests. Create template agreements to support new or changing business initiatives as needed. Support Technology and Marketing teams on Site changes required for legal compliance and for customer experience initiatives. Perform basic responsibilities of a full-service in-house counsel, interacting with internal and external counsel, on various legal projects as needed.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Law degree, Bar Admission – Washington State Bar preferred. 5+ years of experience, with 3+ years of general contract and advertising law experience. Experience with merchandise licensing requirements and contractual obligations. Experience drafting and negotiating software licensing agreements. Familiarity with drafting and negotiating marketing contracts, including privacy requirements, and the marketing digital eco-system for retailers. Ability to handle and strategically prioritize numerous projects in a fast-paced business environment. Ability to resolve novel, complex issues with a resourceful “can-do” attitude. Thoughtful and creative approach to finding business solutions for legal issues. Balanced and solid judgment in ambiguous and time-sensitive situations. Ability to work independently with little supervision while still being able to contribute successfully to cross-functional teams. Ability to successfully partner with business clients, foster teamwork, and to provide outstanding leadership and guidance. Excellent organizational skills; ability to manage multiple projects at once, follow through, and meet tight deadlines. Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate both orally and in writing. Viewed as informed, reliably accurate and diplomatic in client meetings. Well-respected and seen as a trusted advisor by team members. Possesses ability to research, interpret, and apply concepts based on law, case law, company policy, and procedure. Ability to convey detailed, important, complex information to others accurately. Basic knowledge in consumer privacy and data security as those subjects relate to contracts. In-house counsel experience a plus.
