The candidate will pursue and oversee recoupment of title and escrow losses. Provide support to the claims/legal department with legal research. Assist with investigations and requesting additional information for title and escrow coverage claims. Update and manage documentation and information in the claims system. Supervise and provide information and guidance to outside counsel and vendors retained to seek recoupments. Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, legal articles, codes and documents. Investigate facts and law of cases related to title and escrow claims. Communicate with, research and obtain information and documents local, state and federal courts. Coordinate and prepare documents for discovery production. Keep and monitor legal volumes to ensure that law library is up-to-date. Engage in WFG company culture that emphasizes engagement in the 4 Cs, quality of work and high performance. Must have working knowledge and experience of title and escrow practices and procedures, and real estate law. Must be self-directed, have excellent initiative and organizational skills. Must have High School Diploma or GED. Paralegal certificate or experience required. Must be proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint). Should preferably have 3-5 years of claims experience in title, escrow, real estate and loan transactions in both residential and commercial transactions. Multi-state knowledge of real estate laws desired. Proficient in computerized legal research databases (Lexis and Westlaw). Knowledge of legal procedures and terminology a plus. Database and records management skills; experience using Legal Files database a plus. Experience with the court system and procedures preferred.
