Associate General Counsel USA-WI-Neenah Associate General Counsel Job Description Associate General Counsel – Baby and Child Care Location: Neenah, Wisconsin Position Purpose: Kimberly-Clark Corporation is seeking an energetic and business-minded attorney to serve as the chief counsel for the Baby and Child Care (BCC) business within the nearly $8 billion Kimberly-Clark North America (KCNA) consumer division. This position will be directly responsible for the strategic legal support of the BCC business and will actively participate with the BCC leadership team and the KCNA legal leadership team. This attorney will have a broad and diverse legal practice, primarily in the areas of marketing and advertising law, contract negotiation, intellectual property, and dispute resolution. This position will report to Kimberly-Clark’s Vice President and Deputy General Counsel responsible for KCNA, and will be based at KCNA’s principal offices in Neenah, Wisconsin. Kimberly-Clark is a pioneer and global leader of baby and child care products, including diapers, wipes, and training pants. The Baby and Child Care business encompasses the innovation, manufacturing, and marketing of a number of trusted, widely-recognized brands, including Huggies®, Pull-Ups®, and GoodNites®. Principal Responsibilities: Having primary responsibility for all legal matters related to the KCNA BCC business, providing sound, pragmatic legal advice on a wide range of matters in a manner that facilitates delivery of business results. Providing ongoing legal support for the business’s multi-channel marketing and advertising activities, helping to drive and enable the business’ strategy with respect to innovation and claims development and substantiation. Together with Kimberly-Clark’s litigation team, managing advertising and consumer protection-related disputes (including false advertising, NAD challenges, Lanham Act actions, and class actions) as well as other claims and regulatory inquiries impacting the business. Drafting and negotiating agreements with strategic partners that reflect business priorities and contain necessary protections. Working with Kimberly-Clark’s intellectual property team to provide advice in relation to licensing, marketing, and software agreements, as well as ensure that risks associated with trademarks and other intellectual property are properly identified, assessed, and mitigated. Providing training and designing processes to enhance the management and protection of Kimberly-Clark’s brands as well as drive and promote a comprehensive and effective compliance and ethics culture. Assisting with recruiting, developing, and retaining a strong and diverse legal team. Contributing to an environment in which all team members are respected regardless of their individual differences and are motivated to improve both their individual and team contributions to achieve business results. Candidate Profile: The position requires an outstanding attorney with a JD degree or equivalent, who is admitted to practice law to at least one State Bar in the United States and has at least 8 years in-house or large firm experience. This individual will have significant experience counseling large, complex clients on a wide range of legal, business, and compliance matters. This candidate must have proven experience in handling marketing-related legal matters, including claims development, advertising issues, privacy, and dispute resolution. This individual will have demonstrated ability to partner with and influence business teams to deliver results while managing risk to the enterprise, as well as have excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ideally, this individual would have experience in a CPG, consumer retail, e-commerce, and/or manufacturing environment. The position typically functions independently and requires judgment concerning when and to what extent to secure guidance or assistance from others legal team members or otherwise within Kimberly-Clark. It also provides supervision and work direction to attorneys, administrative staff, and paralegals. Travel is limited. Experience with evolving CPG market dynamics, such as the changing retail environment, omni-channel developments, and digital sales and marketing would be helpful.
