Legal Assistant Duties: Types general correspondence, memoranda and complex reports/documents. Transcribes electronic transcription in a timely manner and sends out reports. Prepares client budgets. Maintains hearing report tracker. Proofreads documents and checks for appropriate formatting, spelling and grammar. Opens/closes files. Types and coordinates expense reports on weekly basis. Enters and/or edits attorneysâ€™ time into the timekeeping system within deadlines as required. Maintains attorneysâ€™ personal calendars/deadlines and confirms depositions. Coordinates witness preparation for trials. Maintains files in an efficient and effective manner. Receives, opens, prioritizes and distributes incoming mail. Prepares materials for distribution via U.S. mail, fax, courier, messenger, etc. Maintains confidentiality of client information in accordance with the firm policies. Interacts professionally with clients, attorneys, paralegals, secretaries, all other staff and other representatives outside of the firm.
Qualification and Experience
Requirements: 5-10 years of Defense Litigation experience. Billing experience. Ability to handle pressure, interruptions and multiple projects with frequently changing priorities and deadlines. Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging environment. Should be motivated with the goal of becoming a long term asset within the organization. Exceptional organization skills. Excellent typing skills. Positive attitude. Ability to multitask. Team work oriented. Proficient in Microsoft Office programs.
