Senior Paralegal, Employment and Benefits The candidate will assist in addressing, investigating and resolving confidential employment and benefits related issues, including to issues involving discrimination, harassment, benefits, wage-hour, workers compensation and retaliation, as directed and with supervision as needed by the Senior Counsel, Employment and Benefits or Vice President and Senior Counsel. Serve as the key point of contact and knowledge expert on complex work authorization and immigration (e.g. non-immigrant work visas such as H-1B, L-1, O) and other assigned matters, including directing and supervising outside counsel resources, communicating with various stakeholders and responding to high volume of inquiries, under supervision of attorneys. Assist in all phases of responding to administrative charges and governmental audits, including obtaining and handling highly sensitive information, document production, reviewing and revising position statements and audit responses. Respond to subpoena or similar requests for employee data or files within the Company and its U.S. owned and managed properties with minimal supervision. Communicate and interface with internal and external parties, including executive management as applicable. Prepare materials for employment and benefits related presentations and training. Conduct complex research, review and analyze documents, and draft correspondence, memorandum and other documentation in conjunction with employment and benefit related matters. Coordinate and communicate with outside counsel as needed to complete assignments. Draft, review or revise employment related policies and processes. Serve as a leader as well as an individual contributor and Team Member. Handle special projects requiring a high level of independence with minimal supervision, as assigned by attorneys, which may include due diligence, compilation of data and preparation of filings, EEO comparator analyses, and pre- and post-charge, litigation and dispute resolution risk assessments. Work with Legal, HR, and Risk Management to create internal tracking mechanisms, and to compile and maintain data on employment-related claims, charges and lawsuits and perform basic analyses of the same. Assimilate, update and maintain files on employment law-based claim letters, grievances, charges, and complaints via Team Connect, Excel and related directories in coordination with the senior counsel or Vice President, Employment and Benefits, Human Resources Directors, outside counsel and other personnel. Prepare and distribute reports relating to ongoing and closed employment charges and lawsuits for Employment Practices Liability Insurance carrier, Owners (as needed) and internal clients (i.e. Operations, Risk Management). Assist other Paralegals and Attorneys in the Legal Department as necessary. Technical Diploma degree is needed. BA/BS Bachelor's degree is needed. Should have 8+ years of paralegal experience working in a law firm or corporate legal department. Familiarity with corporate work authorization and immigration related issues is needed. Proficiency with Microsoft word, PowerPoint, and Excel is needed. Should have 6+ years professional experience. Must have 5+ years of paralegal or administrative experience in a law firm or corporate legal department. Prior experience with employment and benefits, litigation and/or immigration related issues is needed. Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint is essential.
