Attorney Advisor - Department of Health and Human Services - Office of the Secretary of Health and Human Services - Office of the General Counsel - Salary: $73,690 - $191,900 per year, based on duty location - Open to: . Citizens, Nationals, and Veterans - Location: Multiple locations, including Washington ., San Francisco, Denver, and Atlanta Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Attorney Advisor within the Office of the General Counsel. This position offers the opportunity to work on a variety of legal matters related to HHS programs and initiatives, including research, litigation, and providing legal advice and guidance to program officials and personnel. As a member of the Office of the General Counsel, you will have the chance to make a meaningful impact on the health and well-being of the American public. Responsibilities: - Researching, selecting and summarizing pertinent facts from case reports, interpretative legal decisions, and analogous agency precedents - Participating in administrative hearings, court actions, and other legal proceedings in defense of the Department - Reviewing and assisting in the disposition of petitions - Providing legal advice, guidance, and assistance to program officials, HHS personnel, advisory committees, and other areas as needed Requirements: - Must be a . Citizen, National or owe allegiance to the . - Must have a Juris Doctorate (.) or Bachelor of Laws (.) from an accredited educational institution - Must have a current, active bar membership in good standing and be eligible to practice law in the highest court of a state, territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia throughout employment in the Office of the General Counsel - Must have a current, valid license to practice law in a state, the District of Columbia, or any United States territory or commonwealth Salary and Benefits: - Salary will be determined based on duty location, with a range of $73,690 to $191,900 per year - HHS offers a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare and retirement plans - Incentives such as moving expenses, recruitment or relocation incentives, student loan repayment, and creditable service for annual leave may be authorized based on availability and qualifications Qualifications: - Minimum Qualifications (GS-11): Must have successfully completed a Juris Doctorate (.) or Bachelor of Laws (.) from an accredited educational institution - Minimum Qualifications (GS-12): Must have at least one (1) year of professional legal experience post bar admission equivalent to the GS-11 grade level - Minimum Qualifications (GS-13): Must have at least two (2) years of professional legal experience post bar admission, with one year of experience equivalent to the GS-12 level - Minimum Qualifications (GS-14): Must have at least three (3) years of professional legal experience post bar admission with one year of experience equivalent to the GS-13 level How to Apply: To receive full consideration, please apply at Open Career Opportunities .
