Associate Counsel
Candidate will work with the General Counsel and Associate Counsel to provide legal advice to Museum departments on a wide range of matters including labor and employment issues, litigation, insurance claims, construction and facilities matters, contracts, licenses, intellectual property matters and regulatory compliance. It is critical that the Attorney have an awareness and understanding of the issues that concern the Museum as a tax-exempt educational organization and a high-profile cultural institution, so that such issues are properly managed and appropriate legal and business advice is provided.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Candidates must have a JD Degree from an accredited law school, a record of strong academic performance, and admission to the New York State Bar / able to secure registration as in-house counsel under New York Rules of Court. Should have 5-10 years of relevant training and experience and strong academic and professional credentials. Judicial clerkship experience or general litigation experience including document production and discovery management, motion practice, and research is desirable. Experience working for or with educational institutions, non-profit organizations, or museums is highly desirable. Should have excellent research and analytical skills, be eager and able to quickly learn new areas of the law and be skilled at managing a diverse and fast-paced assortment of matters. In addition, candidates must have the ability to develop creative solutions and exercise sound legal and business judgment. Will be a strong team player who works well with others, and has excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to multi-task and manage multiple diverse matters at once, and inspire confidence among colleagues and institutional clients.
