Assistant General Counsel The candidate must have JD degree from a recognized U.S. law school, or foreign legal equivalent, and currently licensed to practice law in at least one U.S. state bar. Should have demonstrated track record of understanding how legal issues affect organizations and providing pragmatic business solutions. Should have strong negotiating skills with both legal and commercial issues. Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication and presentation skills and the ability to communicate effectively to create and sustain lasting relationships at all levels of the organization. Working knowledge of Portuguese and Spanish is helpful. Knowledge/training (preferred): Commercial and Contracts; Energy and Public Utility; Insurance; Litigation and Dispute Resolution; Technology, Privacy, and eCommerce; Compliance and Ethics; Environmental; Intellectual Property; Real Estate Leases. Should preferably have 5+ years of related experience in a major law firm or corporate legal department, holding positions of advancing responsibility, such as staff counsel or AGC is required. Prior relevant in-house experience as a AGC, or other senior legal position, with a focus on risk analysis and mitigation is preferred. Must have experience in a high growth environment with a record of accomplishment including driving results. Should have significant experience counseling global organizations on commercial and compliance issues. Must have experience negotiating commercial terms and conditions. Should have experience managing outside counsel. Must have broad, overview experience in intellectual property law, including patent law, licensing of IP rights and due dilligence.
