Paralegal / Legal Assistant The candidate will assemble, file and serve pleadings and motions. Assemble, serve and ensure receipt of responses to standard written discovery. Determine and update any liens and produce lien information to the opposing party. Determine, track and ensure compliance with all deadlines for pleading/motion responses, discovery responses and case management deadlines. Schedule and oversee scheduling of depositions. Obtain, consistently update, review, organize and index medical records and bills. Perform medical research as needed. Assist in preparation for depositions, hearings/arguments, client meetings, mediations by assembling and organizing documents, preparing outlines, confirming arrangements and client attendance (where applicable). Send medical records, depositions, discovery responses and other documents to experts. Assist with Trial Preparation.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have experience in Family & Estate law. Must have previous paralegal experience in Personal Injury and Medical Malpractice. Must have the following experience: Responsible to proactively move the case forward. Organize and be thoroughly familiar with the file. Should use excellent interpersonal skills to: interact with the client to answer questions, obtain updates regarding treatment, employment and/or education, assist with answering discovery directed to the client and obtaining signed authorizations for records; communicate with experts regarding retention, preparation of report, deposition scheduling and trial testimony scheduling; and communicate with opposing counsel and court personnel.
