Summer Law Clerk, 2018 The candidate under the direction of the Chief Deputy District Attorneys will assist with all aspects of prosecution, with a focus on misdemeanor prosecution. The Law Clerk will be mentored by the Deputy District Attorney on a case-by-case basis and is expected to appear in court, learn the prosecution philosophy of the office, and have hands-on experience with motions, trials and investigations. Must have completed two years of law school and been admitted to practice law by the Oregon Supreme Court pursuant to the Student Appearance Rule. Must have knowledge of the following: Oregon criminal law and procedure, having successfully passed evidence and criminal law classes at law school. Oregon State Bar ethical rules. Must have ability to: Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Accept directions and follow policies and procedures.
