ProfileSenior Leasing Counsel The candidate will report to the Associate General Counsel and will manage and direct the Legal leasing team for company ’s Western Region. Performs document review and analysis, as well as legal drafting and negotiation of leases for in-line, ground lease, and secondary anchors and other documents, such as modifications, assignments, termination agreements, brokerage commission agreements, landlord waiver agreements, easements, restrictive covenants, consent letters, rights of entry, and estoppels certificates. Manages Paralegals and Legal Assistants, depending on location Advises leasing, development, and/or operations teams in connection with legal drafting and negotiation of leases and other documents. Provides general legal advice/analysis regarding highly complex leasing and leasing-related issues. Assists Associate General Counsel in improving leasing forms, processes and procedures, and training the field offices. Coordinates with company teams to achieve leasing goals and improving leasing processes.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Juris Doctorate Degree from ABA certified law school. Should have 8-10 years of experience to include supervisory experience. Must have legal expertise in the area of retail leasing and other landlord/tenant and commercial real estate matters. Should have advanced level proficiency with Microsoft Word. Must have intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Excel. Strong research, writing, and advocacy skills are needed. Should have strong analytical skills. Membership in state bar association is required.
