Associate Legal Counsel The candidate performs a variety of legal activities in support of business operations and to help ensure that complies with all relevant laws and regulations. The position may require independent work or work with other members of the legal team on a wide variety of issues. Assists with legal issues, which may include various employment law and human resources inquiries, including hiring issues (non-competes and non-solicitations), ADA requests, overtime claims, harassment complaints and various other matters. Handles prosecution and defense of pending and threatened claims and demands, including EEOC claims, other employee-related claims, non-competition issues, commercial disputes, collection matters, subpoenas, and/or document holds. Administers the global Corporate Compliance Program, internal investigations and other day-to-day matters related to that program. Serves as the primary contact for selected functional groups outside the department. Manages day-to-day inquiries. May provide legal support for mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, and other similar corporate transactions. Handles policy and SOP review, development and enforcement.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate requires a Bachelor's degree and advanced degree in law (juris doctorate or equivalent educational model in other jurisdictions) as well as previous experience that provides the knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the job (comparable to 2+ years). Must have general corporate legal background, preferably with some experience in employment law, and a desire to work as a business partner within a dynamic organization with a variety of internal clients.
