Senior Counsel - Labor and Employment The candidate will assist in managing the legal affairs of the company assigned department. Selects and manages outside counsel representing company's in legal proceedings, and where appropriate, appear directly as counsel. Advises regarding disputes or potential disputes which have not risen to litigation. Advises Human Resources and other internal clients in a broad range of day to day labor and employment issues including the creation of compliant company policies. Receives and properly handles all matters for which company receives service of process. Develops and provides training regarding labor and employment matters. Evaluates and pursues indemnity or insurance coverage in appropriate circumstances. Investigates and evaluate potential claims by the company, where appropriate. Coordinates discovery, including the preparation of witnesses and the collection of documents and other information.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.), or higher, from four-year accredited college or university. Law degree from an accredited law school required. Must be admitted to the practice of law in Texas or other relevant state or be otherwise eligible to practice law in such state required. 10 years of experience in legal practice experience in labor and employment required. Experience in relevant function with another major public corporation or a law firm preferred. Experience with traditional labor matters preferred.
