ProfileEmployee Relations Consultant The candidate acts as a liaison between employer and employee. Provides employee and labor relations support including policy interpretation, dispute and conflict resolution, and mentorship to management. Receives and effectively handles employee issues, escalating these issues to the appropriate level of discipline and/or employment action when necessary. Provides employee and labor relations support including policy interpretation, dispute and conflict resolution, and mentorship to management. Provides counsel and direction that promotes consistent and fair administration of employee corrective, disciplinary and employment actions. Exercises good judgment and problem solving skills in order to effectively resolve conflicts. Conducts accurate, effective, and legally defensible investigations into employment issues. Develops effective coaching and disciplinary documentation. Completes all required internal documentation, maintains records, and prepares ad hoc reports for management. Maintains confidential employee information. Maintains current understanding of Federal, State, and Local Employment Law, collective bargaining agreements, and Alta policies and procedures. Provides effective representation of issues in the support of grievance handling and resolution. Works with Leadership and other HR Staff, such as Business Partners, to identify recurring employee issues and make recommendations to address and resolve such issues. Recommends training needs for employees and management at all levels as it relates to employee relations. Remains neutral in difficult employee relations issues and is able to handle stressful situations with grace and diplomacy. Maintains a positive employee relations climate with a focus on improving employee engagement. Establishes excellent relationships with all levels of the organization.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should ideally have Master’s Degree, JD or other specialized training in Labor/Employee Relations. Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent education and experience required. 5+ years of Employee Relations Experience with 3+ years in a union environment required. Demonstrated knowledge of Federal, State and Local employment law required. Healthcare Experience preferred.
