Contract Negotiations Officer
Responsibilities: Collaborate with SPA personnel, General Counsel, faculty and administration in meeting the institutional needs regarding contract negotiations and execution; Ensure timely review and negotiation of clinical and non-clinical research related MTAs and DUAs with sponsoring agencies; Liaises with internal partners in research such as the Clinical Trials Office (CTO), Sponsored Projects Administration (SPA), Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC), the Institutional Review Boards (IRB) and the Office of Research Compliance and Training (ORCT); Negotiate research related contracts and service agreements directly with the sponsors according to institutional policies and procedures; Monitor agreements for compliance with contractual requirements; Assist in developing and implementing policies and procedures designed to assure that contract negotiations are carried out in compliance with applicable federal and state regulations, including those promulgated in the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the rules of the Joint Commission; Prepare all Agreements for execution following institutional policies and procedures; Serve as a resource for researchers, faculty and departmental administrators with respect to institutional contracting policies; Maintain an up-to-date awareness of evolving policy changes relevant to research administration. Act as a key resource for investigators and departmental administrators on a broad range of research administration topics; Assist investigators, departmental staff, and central administration staff in solving project-related administrative problems and issues; Perform other contract administration duties as necessary.

Qualification and Experience

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus 3 years of related experienced. Preferred Qualifications Paralegal or law degree preferred. Prior experience in a research intensive university or academic medical center is preferred. Experience with electronic information systems that support grants and contracts workflow and management; Other Requirements Proven knowledge of federal, state, city government and private non-profit policies and regulations related to research contracts; Demonstrate general knowledge of business practices, and University and sponsored project policies and procedures; Outstanding organizational skills and the ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects with conflicting deadline pressures and competing priorities; Superior verbal and written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
