Job Overview:

A highly respected law firm in New York City is seeking an experienced Personal Injury Associate Attorney to join their team. The successful candidate will be responsible for litigating personal injury cases, including automobile and premises liability cases, across New York and Connecticut. Licensure in both states is required.

Duties:

  • Litigate personal injury cases across New York and Connecticut, including automobile and premises liability claims.
  • Collaborate with clients, team members, and partners to gather medical and factual evidence supporting injury claims.
  • Draft legal documents such as pleadings, discovery, motions, and other filings with various state courts.
  • Research novel legal issues related to personal injury cases in state and federal courts.
  • Present and argue discovery motions in court.
  • Manage the court approval process for wrongful death and minor cases, including drafting petitions and guiding them through the approval process.
  • Oversee pre-litigation, litigation, and settlement phases for personal injury cases.
  • Ensure timely filing of pleadings and service of process, and track Statute of Limitations deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Admitted to the Connecticut and New York bars.
  • Minimum of 5 years of personal injury experience.
  • Strong ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and research abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and comfortable with legal technology.

Education:

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

Certifications:

  • Active license to practice law in Connecticut and New York.
  • Additional state admissions such as Pennsylvania, Ohio, or West Virginia are a plus.

  • Expertise in personal injury law, particularly in automobile and premises liability.
  • Ability to handle complex litigation processes from pre-litigation through settlement.
  • Strong legal research and writing capabilities.
  • Excellent client communication and interpersonal skills.
