A law firm seeks a skilled and motivated Associate Attorney to join a well-established office located in Melville, NY. This role offers the opportunity to represent clients in a variety of casualty defense matters, including labor law, premises liability, professional liability, subrogation, and general liability defense. The ideal candidate will have at least three years of relevant experience and a passion for advancing their career in a supportive, growth-oriented environment.

Duties

  • Represent clients in defense cases related to labor law, professional liability, premises liability, subrogation, and general liability.
  • Draft and review legal documents including pleadings, motions, and discovery responses.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis to support defense strategies and case preparation.
  • Participate in depositions, hearings, and trials, handling all aspects of litigation.
  • Collaborate with senior attorneys to develop case strategies and ensure successful outcomes for clients.
  • Maintain and manage an active caseload with attention to deadlines and detail.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, opposing counsel, and court officials.
  • Assist in developing and implementing business development strategies.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of experience in casualty defense, including labor law, premises liability, professional liability, subrogation, and general liability.
  • Strong background in litigation, with experience managing cases from inception through resolution.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex legal concepts clearly.
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with colleagues and clients.
  • Self-starter with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

Education

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.

Certifications

  • Admission to the New York State Bar (required).
  • Additional certifications or licensure in related states is a plus.
