IP Paralegal
Duties: Prepare patent portfolio reports. Maintain patent files. Serve as the interface for patent preparation & prosecution matters with outside patent firms. Day-to-day management of and report on Zoom’s patent docket. Coordinate completion for patent cases of formal documents (declarations, Powers of Attorney, and assignments). Work with the patent team and outside counsel to ensure accuracy and completeness of patent Information Disclosure Statements . Work with outside providers to ensure timely payment of patent annuities and patent maintenance fees. Manage inventor-incentive award program. Maintain patent marking Web page. Serve as a resource for internal clients on domestic and international patent rules and procedures. Work closely with our IP team to improve processes that are currently done manually and implement best practices for in-house IP matters. Assist with IP budget management. Assist with preparation of presentations. Assist with preparing materials for, scheduling, and conducting internal IP training sessions and internal IP strategy meetings . Time and experience permitting, similarly support trademark and copyright prosecution and enforcement practice.

Qualification and Experience

Requirements: 8+ years of experience as a patent paralegal with law firm and in-house experience involving U.S. (and preferably international) patent preparation and prosecution. Attention to detail to ensure that deadlines are docketed correctly and forms are completed without error. Comfortable having a fast-moving and heavy workload, with constantly changing priorities. Self-starter with ability to work autonomously to manage matters from start to finish. Comfortable with distributed work environments, collaborating across time zones and cultures. Team-first attitude. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Strong organizational and process-development skills. Preferred:. Strong Excel skills & PowerPoint skills. Trademark and/or copyright prosecution and enforcement experience.
