Director, Contracts The candidate will lead the contracts team responsible for the drafting, review, negotiation, archiving and administration of contracts for research and development, medical affairs, sales and marketing, and other business functions. Must be able to work well under pressure and within a fast-paced environment in a highly professional manner. The role requires the ability to work independently, while at the same time, obtaining input and feedback from, and coordinating with, other stakeholders and functions at the appropriate points in the contracting process. Oversee team in Waltham, MA and Wayne, PA in drafting, reviewing and negotiating contracts in collaboration with functional teams. Draft, review, revise and negotiate contracts in collaboration with functional teams. Oversee the contracts administration system (Axxerion) to enable the efficient request, creation, negotiation, tracking and filing of contract agreements. Manage the flow of agreements through the contract process, ensuring compliance with internal processes and procedures (e.g., legal, compliance, financial). Effectively communicate contract terms and obligations to internal stakeholders. Prepare reports to track and monitor contract metrics on an ongoing basis. Provide training on contracting policies and processes. Work with functional areas and vendor to resolve performance or payment issues or other contractual disputes, when appropriate. Establish annual objectives and developmental plans with any direct reports. Provide ongoing evaluation and feedback to ensure accomplishment of objectives. Perform other duties as may be required.Qualification and Experience
A J.D. required from an accredited law school and admission to a state Bar. Should have 7+ years experience in contracts function in a biotech or pharmaceutical company, 2+ years management experience preferred. Must have significant experience in negotiating contracts related to research and development, including CRO and other master service agreements, material transfer agreements, consulting agreements, and confidential disclosure agreements; experience with clinical site contracting a plus. Experience in utilizing contract management systems required; Axxerion experience a plus. Should have solid understanding of key issues in pharmaceutical contracting terms and conditions. Must have ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining attention to detail. Excellent proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, and effective verbal and written communication skills is required.
