ProfileParalegal The candidate will perform work, under the supervision of Legal Counsel, of a legal nature, which is customarily, performed by a lawyer; and to perform administrative tasks appurtenant thereto necessary to ensure efficient and effective operation of the department. Familiarity with reading, understanding and evaluating insurance documents including, policies, endorsements, and exclusions. Ensure that all vendors, including contractors and professionals, have contractually required insurance including; general Liability, auto liability or waiver, and Workers Comp. Ensure that vendors comply with company policies and procedures regarding insurance. Responsible for obtaining new vendor information and setting vendor up in system. Educate vendors and internal clients regarding insurance requirements. Continuously following up with vendors regarding insurance submittals until they are compliant. Promptly respond to insurance questions from vendors, brokers and internal clients. Review and approval of wrap insurance documents from vendors, including for stand alone projects. Confirm that all necessary signatures are on contract. Create vendors in EBIX; Update existing vendor information. Manage vendor insurance process for the Group including verification of written contracts through EBIX, Distribute to EBIX, Communicate with insurance agents and underwriters to obtain proper verbiage on certificates and endorsements; Remove or inactivate vendors. Prepare weekly insurance deficiency reports. Coordinate with Accounts Payable to establish vendor number, place vendors on payment hold, inactivate vendors. Maintain files both physical and computer generated (excel worksheet, etc.). Perform general administrative office duties including to faxing, photocopying, mailing, scheduling appointments, conferences and meetings, open mail and answer telephone as necessary. Assist with organizing, either by manually filing or storing electronically, office information for quick and easy retrieval. Following Company standards for sending items for archiving at off-site storage facility. Type, proofread, and distribute letters, memos, reports, status of governmental approvals (SOGA), legal documents, permit applications, and contract summaries; Compose business correspondence.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate should have Bachelor Degree; or, alternatively, Associate Degree in Paralegal Studies coupled with a minimum of 2+ years of work experience in a law firm or corporate law department concentrated in the areas of real estate and contract law; or, alternatively, an Associate Degree, if in an unrelated field. 4-5 years of Property & Casualty experience preferred.
