Paralegal The candidate will work closely with the Chief IP Counsel to develop, implement, and maintain docketing processes, procedures and policies for invention disclosures, patents, and patent applications, including daily or periodic clearance of workflow. Coordinate and report communications with the USPTO and foreign patent and trademark agencies. Prepare and file appropriate documentation for patent applications. Coordinate electronic filings of patent applications and communications with the USPTO. Assist in tracking and maintaining IP and Legal Department budget; including management of IP expenses in Legal Tracker (formerly Serengeti). Interface with inventors to capture new innovations for review. Interact with U.S. and international counsel. Administer inventor awards program. Work with and assist other departments to ensure understanding and expectations for patent policies and rules, including fielding questions from employees. Review new patent grants for errors and corrections. Maintain docketing system for invention disclosures, patent applications, patents, and trademarks. Extract data from patent database and prepare reports to help businesses understand the content and value of their IP assets. Prepare patent committee meeting agendas; obtain, assemble and distribute meeting materials. Interact with U.S. and international counsel. Support various litigation matters, including docketing deadlines and assisting with document collection and production. Perform legal research using Westlaw or other online databases; perform other research projects. Assist with legalization of international documents for use in international legal proceedings and other routine corporate filings. Assist with maintaining various corporate databases. Work with PID lawyers and Danaher lawyers and paralegals on other matters as required. Bachelorâ€™s degree with a Paralegal certificate is preferred. Should have 5+ years of experience providing a thorough understanding of domestic and international patent prosecution practice to achieve business objectives. Experience working with extensive patent portfolios and docketing systems (experience with Foundation IP (CPA) is preferred) is needed. Experience with IP research tools (Clarivate Analytics preferred) is essential. Excellent writing, analytical, and communication skills are needed. Exceptional customer service and organization skills are needed. Experienced with the USPTOâ€™s Electronic Filing System (EFS). Familiarity with patent law and practice, including the MPEP, Code of Federal Regulations, is preferred. Excellent Microsoft Word, Excel (including pivot tables), PowerPoint and Outlook skills are needed.
