Advancement Services Assistant The candidate will provide critical support to Advancement Services and Research teams. The position is a hybrid of these two major areas of database support and development research. Will act as a team leader for data entry and integrity initiatives, provides support for gift processing efforts, and contributes to prospect identification and research. Contribute high quality work product that supports and meets the objectives of strategic research and the prospect development program. Conduct research to identify and qualify prospects and present findings to other development staff members for further action. Receive and enter biographical updates from constituents into the appropriate fields in The Raiser's Edge, the central depository of the University's alumni and donor information. Updates will come through many channels including online via Blackbaud Net Community (BBNC), returned mail, individual constituent notification, etc. Document and regularly review data update procedures to ensure best practices and accuracy. Train other staff members from the Development, Alumni Relations, and Communications team that may need access to or be responsible for updating data in The Raiser's Edge to ensure consistency and quality. Periodically gather data for industry surveys. Fulfill ad-hoc reporting and mailing list requests, as needed. Gift Processing and Administrative Support. Complete daily deposit and necessary reports for gift processing. Ensure supporting documentation is complete for restricted gifts and pledges. Cross train to serve as backup and fulfill other Advancement Services responsibilities as needed. Provide support to Director of Advancement Services as needed. Identify and qualify prospects through analysis of complex data to determine estimated giving capacity, philanthropic interests and inclination to give; establish accurate capacity ratings. Conduct research using web based tools, as well as print, peer and professional review; prepare documentation and materials as needed. Suggest and implement processes to capture and utilize information in innovative ways to maximize the potential of the prospect pool. Train and educate colleagues as needed. Monitor industry, business, financial, and other news relevant to major, planned giving, and leadership prospects, and share with colleagues as needed. Interpret and translate financial data (stock, SEC filings, IRS foundation filings), real estate sale and assessment data, philanthropy, and valuable collections.

Qualification and Experience

The candidate must have a Bachelor's degree. A Master's degree in related field is preferred. Research, library science, investigative, paralegal, or similar training is desired. Should have 3-5 years of professional level experience in a development or closely related field. Experience in higher education or nonprofit environment is preferred. Project management and research experience, including use of web based tools and databases are essential. Experience in training and/or speaking to small and large groups is preferred. Experience in data analysis and reporting is essential. Must have strong analytical skills, outstanding organizational skills and superb attention to detail. Must be able to maintain confidentiality and discretion. Outstanding verbal and written communication skills are needed. Knowledge of MS Office, Word, Excel and Outlook is a must. Advanced Excel or data analytics experience is helpful. Previous experience with Blackbaud Net Community, The Raiser's Edge, or similar relational databases is preferred.
