Paralegal/Legal Assistant Duties: Interacting with Clients, Potential Clients, Other Inquiries – Answering phone; returning and making calls; drafting and responding to emails and letters; faxing; scheduling appointments; handling and safeguarding confidential records. Scanning, Filing, Documenting Cases - All correspondence, medical/legal documents, and other records are scanned, filed and logged in to our practice management software. Interacting with various agencies, offices, facilities, etc. – Phone calls, letters, emails for case development (e.g. payments, records requests) and status checks (cases and previous requests). Mailing letters and calculating postage. Drafting routine letters. Errands (e.g. Post Office, VA regional office, etc.). Light to moderate lifting. Tracking and organizing activity in our practice management software. Handling confidential information professionally and responsibly.
Qualification and Experience
Qualifications: Experience in an administrative law office or government bureaucracy like VA or SSA; knowledge of medical and/or legal terminology; military service; proficiency in PDF editing software; Bilingual a plus. Microsoft/Computer skills necessary. Prevail experience a plus. Good communication skills, especially on phone. Reliable, professional, punctual, team player. A competent, responsible, organized and ethical assistant with an eye for detail and the ability to work well with others, to join our team. Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills (especially on the phone), and are familiar with the basics of Microsoft Office (Windows, Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
