A law firm seeks a compassionate and experienced Family Law Attorney to join its team in Rockville, MD. This role involves assisting clients through emotionally challenging and sensitive legal matters such as divorce, child custody, domestic violence, prenuptial agreements, and marital asset division. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to manage high-stress situations, demonstrate strong negotiation and communication skills, and be committed to helping individuals during difficult times.
Duties:
- Document Preparation: Draft legal pleadings, motions, settlement agreements, judgments, contracts, and orders for various family law cases.
- Client Representation: Represent clients in court proceedings, including hearings, trials, and mediations.
- Collaboration: Work closely with paralegals and senior attorneys to move cases forward through the litigation process.
- Case Strategy: Assess clients' needs, analyze situations, and determine the best legal course of action.
- Asset Division: Handle the division of marital property, including real estate, during divorce proceedings.
- File Management: Ensure that client files are well-organized and up to date.
Requirements:
- Licensure: Must be licensed to practice law in Maryland; licensure in Washington, . is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 1-2 years of experience in family law, including divorce, child custody, and asset division.
- Court Experience: Experience representing clients in hearings, trials, and mediation.
- Research Skills: Strong legal research capabilities are essential.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, particularly in emotionally charged and high-stress situations.
- Negotiation: Strong negotiation skills, especially when working with highly emotional or conflicting parties.

Education:
- A 4-year undergraduate degree is required.
- Juris Doctor (.) degree from an accredited law school.
