Duties

  • Patent Prosecution: Prepare, file, and prosecute patent applications in the biotechnology and life sciences sectors.
  • Technical Research: Apply scientific principles to conduct in-depth research and analysis of technologies relevant to patent applications.
  • Client Interaction: Collaborate with clients to understand their technologies and provide guidance on patent strategy and protection.
  • Patent Portfolio Management: Assist clients in building and maintaining robust patent portfolios, including filing and responding to office actions from the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO).
  • Legal Advice: Provide expert legal counsel on patentability, infringement, and licensing matters.
  • Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration: Work closely with other intellectual property attorneys and technical experts to ensure comprehensive patent strategies.

Requirements

  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience as a patent agent, ideally with a focus on biotechnology or life sciences.
    • Experience in preparing and prosecuting patent applications before the USPTO is required.
  • Scientific Expertise:
    • Doctorate (.) degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, biomedical sciences, or a closely related field.
  • Licensing:
    • Must be registered to practice before the . Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) as a Patent Agent.
