Senior Attorney Duties: The candidate will provide counsel to department staff on complex and involved matters affecting the department. Will handle complex and involved in-house opinions in areas under the jurisdiction of the department on matters affecting the department. Handle all aspects of complex and involved legislation affecting the department including drafting, analysis, research, hearings, and passage. Represent the department in complex and involved litigation before the Public Employees Relations Commission (PERC), Division of Administrative Hearings, in arbitration proceedings, in state, circuit, and federal district courts, and in appellate courts. Act as hearing officer, when assigned. Advise agency personnel officers and managers regarding all personnel matters, including the Fair Labor Standards Act, employee discipline, and administration of collective bargaining agreement in accordance with chapter 447, Florida Statutes. Prepare final orders and other orders regarding complex and involved matter.

Qualification and Experience

Qualification: The candidate must have Juris Doctorate degree. Admittance to the Florida Bar is required. 2+ years of employment law experience is preferred.
