Legal Assistant The candidate will be responsible for prepares and maintains office and corporate documents; correspondence; and records. Performs administrative duties including creating and preparing routine materials, proofreading, verifying and editing materials for extreme accuracy and clarity; tracks all legal expenses. Uses discretion and judgment when screening calls, visitors, and scheduling of appointments, meetings and depositions. Organizes workload to meet established priorities and deadlines including maintenance of Hospital insurance policies. Handles confidential information professionally and consistent with legal and ethical policies. Understands complex legal documents; reviews, summarizes and drafts documents as requested. Maintains project files and keeps all matters updated and current. Conducts research under direction of Staff Attorney and VP-Legal Affairs. Processes contracts-policies-documents in accordance with Hospital and Departmental standards. Reviews contracts for appropriate / necessary language and prepares templates under supervision of Legal staff. Prepares /processes HIPAA Business Associate Agreements and assists Legal staff in HIPAA activities. Monitors / reviews governmental regulations relative to Compliance and coordinates the distribution of relevant information to departments. Assists in migration of paper contract files to all electronic data repository. Maintains / manages all legal documents in paper and electronic filing systems.. Maintenance and management of contract software.
Qualification and Experience
The candidate shall have High level of proficiency using Microsoft Office programs. Must have 3+ years experience of Legal Assistant work with experience in a Healthcare setting and additional education/training as a Paralegal is preferred. Should have excellent attention to detail with the ability to multi-task; Excellent telephone, writing and proofreading skills; Self-motivated, able to meet deadlines with limited direction and supervision; Ability to work as a part of a team and interact at professional level; Ability to perform legal research; Organizational skills to include filing correspondence and legal documents, including but not limited to contracts; Effective communication skills, both written and verbal; Effective planning, problem solving skills, judgment, and administrative skills in managing practice areas; Must be self-motivated and require limited direction and supervision.
